DDP door-to-door delivery
DDP is one figure for the whole route from the factory in China to the door of your warehouse, with customs clearance inside the rate. The figure is fixed before departure and is not recalculated on arrival. The term works with any mode of delivery: sea in 70 days, rail in 35–45, air from 10.
What the DDP rate includes
| Stage | Included |
|---|---|
| Collection from the supplier within China | yes |
| Receipt and handling at our warehouse in China | yes |
| Export documentation in China | yes |
| Freight to Ukraine | yes |
| Port and terminal charges | yes |
| Import duty and taxes | yes |
| Broker's services | yes |
| Delivery to your warehouse in Ukraine | yes |
Not included: the cost of the goods themselves and payment to the supplier, unless you have separately ordered product sourcing or a funds transfer.
Who DDP suits, and who is better off unbundling
DDP makes sense when what you need is a predictable landed cost rather than the lowest possible price for each individual stage. You know from the outset what a unit will cost you and can set your selling price before the cargo has even left China.
It is almost always the choice of those with no in-house foreign trade department and no wish to keep a broker on retainer, or of those bringing in their first consignments who are not ready to work through commodity codes and the structure of customs payments.
When DDP is not the best option: if you have your own broker and an established practice for classifying your goods, it is cheaper to take delivery to the terminal and clear the cargo yourself. Our logistics rate does not change as a result — we do not pay ourselves extra for work we are not doing. We will tell you this at the quotation stage if we can see it is the better deal for you.
Is this official import?
Yes — DDP can be arranged as official import with VAT: a contract with your legal entity, a full set of documents for your accounts and the right to input VAT credit. The single-rate logic itself does not change.
This matters, because DDP is often sold on the market as a way to "not think about customs". We sell it as a way to avoid keeping a separate contractor for every stage — with fully transparent documentation.
How the figure is calculated and what affects it
To price DDP we need more input than for ordinary freight: not just weight and dimensions but a precise description of the goods, the material, the intended use and the invoice value. That is because the figure includes duty and taxes, and those depend on the commodity code, not on the size of the carton.
Beyond that, the rate is affected by the chosen mode and transit time, the city of dispatch in China, the delivery city in Ukraine and any permit documents required. The factors are broken down on the What your rate depends on page.
The rate is fixed before departure. That is the essence of the service: the figure you saw at the start equals the figure you pay.
Why work with us
One figure does not mean a closed book
We will show you how it breaks down if you ask for the breakdown. Transparency does not conflict with a fixed rate here — you simply do not receive five separate invoices from five contractors.
We can finance the purchase as well
DDP covers the logistics; financing covers the goods: we pay the supplier from our own funds and you settle after you receive them. Together this means the consignment moves without any prepayment from you at all.
A difficult product range does not break the rate
Food supplements, tea, batteries and drone components require permit documents — we obtain them ourselves and build them into the same figure, rather than coming back for a surcharge once the cargo is already at the border.
